HR - Term Paper Example It is a result of the nature of human asset and legitimate administration of human asset that an association can separate itself from others and the association can achieve upper hand (Blau, 1978). Association puts resources into various undertakings and resources with the goal that they would yield comes back to the organization over the long haul and the organization possibly puts resources into them if the normal estimation of the profits of the tasks or resources would be more than their all out present speculation cost. This hypothesis can likewise be connected to the human asset of the association and associations put resources into human asset with the goal that they would return them benefits in the years to come and help the association to develop as a fruitful endeavor. As human asset is the most significant resource of the association and hence it is basic for the association to appropriately deal with its human asset so the speculation yields greatest return (Roslender, 1997). There can be various types of speculation on human asset like the expense of preparing, cost related with enlistment of workers and so on and along these lines it is significant for the admini stration to appropriately dissect the expense and returns that human asset would yield and for this reason, human asset bookkeeping has developed as the arrangement (Mirvis, and Lawler III, 1984). The idea of human asset bookkeeping is the procedure by which association examinations and thinks about the speculation that they have made in the human asset and the advantages that human asset respects the association (Pyle, 1970). This data about the expense and advantage of human asset is then passed on to the invested individuals in the association. This sort of speculation isn't accounted for in the ordinary budget reports of the association anyway this venture is a significant one for the since quite a while ago run achievement of the association. The Preprogrammin of a Child Essay -- essays research papers

A kid is a clear book and a parent is the pen. A parent or senior says something or makes a move, and a kid frequently will react by emulating what has been said or done. The pith of a youngster is one of blamelessness just as naïveté. Grown-ups fill in as a plenitude of information, rules, and guidelines, which a kid should live and submit to. Not all kids will comply with the guidelines expected of them, yet certain standards are more basic than others. While restraining youngsters, guardians and grown-ups take rules relating to sexual orientation details considerably more truly than most different subjects of dutifulness, without recognizing they are rehearsing such practices. Sexual orientation differentiations are evident inside the manner in which kids are addressed, how they are treated in specific circumstances, and the toys they play and interface with. Eventually in a media driven society, for example, America, it would be almost difficult to bring up a youngster liberate d from sexual orientation generalizing. Through the span of later years the particular sexual orientation characterized universe of toys has been reduced, yet the greater part of these generalizations despite everything appear to seem, by all accounts, to be engrained into a child’s cerebrum nearly from birth.      As right on time as the introduction of a kid there are indicated sexual orientation partitions. When conceived, a kid is recognized by either the shading blue or pink. You can see a pink stork on the corner for another infant young lady or a blue stork for another infant kid. Obviously these hues are not conceivable to the kid, yet kids all through the remainder of the local view these signs. A parent may say something relating to the neighbors having another child kid just as a result of a blue sign. This could be one of the underlying oblivious remarks a parent or grown-up may make, which imparts such convictions that shading characterizes sexual orientation. All through immaturity it is an irregularity to see a little fellow wearing a pink shirt, on the grounds that there is a shame related with a little youngster wearing the shading pink. We take such an inadequate idea, a shading, and spot behind it partiality. Later on in life wearing the shading pink can evoke suppositions of homosexuality. These decisions have no approval to them, aside from the shame American’s related with this shading all through youth encounters and understandings.      Another case of the accentuation of shading on sexual orientation can be aimed at the legos toy.... ...bsp;Children are clear books who need course; clearly guardians are not by any means the only ones holding the pen to direct their insight. Different grown-ups, friends, and society go ahead in denoting their domain. So as to bring up a youngster liberated from sexual orientation generalizations, that kid must be self-taught, not permitted to engage themselves with most perusing material accessible, and couldn't be allowed to associate with anybody outside their â€Å"regulator.† The manner by which society has been developed limits the degree of restriction accessible outside the home. At the end of the day this general public has such a colossal measure of sexual orientation generalizations inside each part of the outside world that it would be just about difficult to out run their effect. In a perfect world every individual ought to have the option to move beyond what society directs, yet it is a lot simpler to fall into the snare of acknowledgment. It is hard to march a kid of two years of age, in a pink outfit without feeling the gaze of dissatisfaction from untouchables. Individuals must utilize the term acknowledgment as opposed to avoidance, in light of the fact that the most exceedingly terrible mistreatment is what is put on a youngster who doesn't have the ability to get their decisions.

era of 1936 essays

time of 1936 articles Today was such an incredible day. It was my moms birthday thus many intriguing things have occurred in the paper. I actually never read a paper, yet for reasons unknown I was snared on it right when I got it. Well to begin my extraordinary day, I rose right on time to heat a cake for my mom. I previously had flour, yeast, vanilla, milk, and salt yet I despite everything required eggs, sugar, and margarine. Well I jumped on my shoes and strolled down the square to the Food store to get the remainder of the fixings. I needed to get the things quick with the goal that I could return home and make the cake to shock my mother. I got margarine which was 37 pennies a pound, unadulterated sweetener for 49 pennies a pound, enormous eggs for 25 pennies twelve, and a New York Times paper for 2 pennies( New York Times 1936, page 1 ). I was amazed to see that every one of my things were marked down. I at that point returned home and made the cake. While the cake was preparing, I began to take a gander at the paper. The principal thing that got my attention was on the first page. In huge intense letters it said Roosevelt and the New Deal. This article grabbed my attention since I had no clue what the New Deal was. The article was about how Roosevelt gained up the Works Ground Administration(Times 1 ) which gives jobless individuals employments. All things considered, the article went on about how it will give 8,000,000 individuals jobs(Times 2 ). I was so eager to find out about this in light of the fact that my dad lost his employment during the Great Depression. I trust this Works Progress Administration works so my father can financially recover and work once more. As I was pondering the chance of my father finding another line of work, an article about the Chicago Cubs grabbed my eye. Pearl Harbor Conspiracy Essay Example For Students

Pearl Harbor Conspiracy Essay It was exceptionally obvious to everybody who had deliberately followed the course of occasions that we would at some point or another need to meet the danger to progress which these assailant countries were introducing to the worldand that we would at last be disregarded to confront the invasion are words from that point Secretary of War Henry Stimson. America realized she was set out toward war, her kin however, not straightforwardly feeling the impacts of the contentions going on a large portion of a world away would not bolster the loss of American lives for a remote war. The legislature thought about the arranged assaults on Pearl Harbor, kept the data from the military heads that required it the most, and utilized the disaster to energize the country toward war. AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR. THIS IS NO DRILL. This is the message conveyed by radioman Kyle Boyer at 7:58 a.m. Sunday December 7, 1941; a date which will live in disgrace. The domain of Japan had assaulted the United States Pacific Fleet situated in Pearl Harbor. For a considerable length of time the US Intelligence people group, just as others around the globe, had been blocking and translating transmissions from terrain Japan to their representatives and spies in the US. We had deciphered their Purple Code, and knew precisely what military insight was being transmitted to and fro. The Dutch likewise broke Purple and educated our administration regarding the Japanese arrangement and were stunned to hear reports that we were taken by shocked. Significantly all the more upsetting, months before the assault a British twofold operator, Dusko Popov, codenamed Tricycle, went over to the F.B.I. point by point plans of the Japanese air strike, which he had gotten from the Germans. The legislature had the data, and did nothing with it. The individuals who required the data the most, Admiral Kimmel, president us pacific armada, and General Walter Short, the military officer in Hawaii, were kept unaware of what's going on. For what reason would the military keep such relevant data from its pioneers in Hawaii? Some would contend they concealed the data so the Japanese would not realize their code was broken. I wonder if the 2,000+ assistance men and regular citizens that kicked the bucket that day would have a similar concern. Chief of naval operations Kimmel had been whining about deficiencies of staff, planes, and radar for a considerable length of time. General Short didn't realize he had an exceptional Army checking station on the island, and was not by any means cleared to see the decoded messages known as Magic. These commandants were set up to be substitutes for the disaster that would before long unfurl . Sec. of War Stimson was cited as saying he was mitigated that the hesitation was finished and that an emergency had arrived in a manner which would join all our peoplefor I feel that this nation joined has hardly anything to fear while the lack of concern and divisions worked up by unpatriotic men have been up to this point demoralizing. What's more, later proceeded to tell his military guide we would never have gotten the nation to war without Pearl Harbor. The administration realized we would in the long run need to do battle. The inquiry was whether the administration could mobilize support so as to help spare England. Our administration, knowing about the arranged assault on Pearl Harbor and knowing England couldnt withstand Germanys surge for an excessive amount of longer, held onto their chance to increase open help for the war by giving up 2,000+ lives that decisive December morning. A Day in the Life in the Future The Contemporary Man in Saturday - Literature Essay Samples

In Ian McEwans Saturday, the protagonist Henry Perowne is given the task of representing the trials of being a contemporary man. However, he seems to be more than just an average contemporary man. McEwan gives Henry the characteristics of a somewhat perfect man, an individual who society in a post-terrorism world may strive to be like. These actions make it seem as if McEwan is writing Henry as a response to the war-driven world. McEwan does this by making Henry neutral when it comes to situations where violence would be seen as acceptable. The image of the future man is increased by Henrys negative viewpoint on old views and positive outlook at artefacts of the future.First, Henry has the characteristics of a man who is against quick action in the form of violence. His thoughts on the initial reaction of the world responding to terrorism with war are given early, where he thinks to himself that the â€Å"ideawas all an aberration, that the world would surely calm downthat solutions were possible, that reason [was a] powerful tool†(McEwan 30). Here, Henry describes his initial thoughts surrounding how terrorism was to be handled, through reason rather than war. He seems to be convincing himself that the rest of the world thinks like he does. This, juxtaposed with the anti-war protest in Saturday gives Henry the image of a representative of a group of future-thinking individuals.Additionally, the relationship between those like Henry, who are against violence, and the war-prone remainder of society is shown symbolically through Henry meeting with Baxter after their minor car accident. A metaphorical relationship between the character of Baxter and war is unmistakable. He is described as wearing a â€Å"sixties-style suit [with] tightness in the fabric round the biceps†(McEwan 74) and also â€Å"[gave] an impression of fretful impatience, of destructive energy waiting to be released†(McEwan 74). Looking closely, at the physical description, the clothing suggests that he represents a historical view of war in society, the tightness of the fabric around the biceps implies a more violent past and and weapons that have intimidation over society, as it intimidates Henry who notices it quickly. His impatient and destructive demeanour also contribute to this vision of a representative of war when compared to Henrys more rational approach of â€Å"reason† on situations. Henrys rationality is clearly put when he mentions that â€Å"self-interested social organisms find it rational to be violent sometimes†(McEwan 74). This further distinguishes Henry from the rest of society because this description of violence implies the notion that what is rational is not always reasonable. By stating this, Henry suggests that the easiest solution for one is not always best for the masses. This description moves away from the standardized government-dictated society that the world is living in, which contributes to Henrys image of a future man. Moreover, Henry applies his theories of violence when his family is being threatened by Baxter. During his initial encounter with this forced scenario, he â€Å"tries to see the room through [Baxters] eyes, as if that might help predict the degree of trouble ahead†(McEwan 166). Even thought the opportunity of a counter-attack is possible – â€Å"[Henry and Theo were] in a good position to rush him†(McEwan 167) – Henry still surveys the situation and waits for the best possible option. Again, McEwan seems to be commenting directly on Britains response to terrorism in the novel, whereas one party may resort to a counter-attack immediately after an invasion as a sort of primitive revenge; a more modern mentality on the other hand may be that â€Å"When anything can happen, everything matters.†(166). If the house can be represented as a country, then McEwan taking into account the well-being of all of its citizens before any potentiall y rash action has taken place. Although Henry ultimately resorts to â€Å"[flinging Baxter] down the stairs†(McEwan 183) it only happens when every other available option have been exhausted, this is what separates him and the rest of the anti-war population from the rest of society, and what ultimately makes him a future man.Furthermore, what links Henry to the future are his views on the past. More specifically, of past fixations of man compared to more modern views. An example of this would be the comparison of young and old minds with regards to architecture. Henry and Grammaticus have a dialogue where Grammaticus argues that the â€Å"[Post Office Tower has] No grace, no warmth. It would have put fear in [Adams] heart.†(McEwan 159). Here, Grammaticus gives the buildings a religious quality, perhaps from coming from an age where the ideal was that taller buildings were considered religious ones, and that was their purpose, hence the reference to â€Å"Adam† . Henrys description of the tower is quite different: â€Å"Post Office Tower – less ugly these days with its aluminium entrance, blue cladding and geometric masses of windows and ventilation grills†(McEwan 66). His description tends to be more apathetic when it comes to personal emotion towards the building, as if he acknowledges its purpose and sees it as nothing more. This is further realized when the specific traits he points out on the building tend to be more for functional purposes rather than beauty. Therefore, Henrys belief of a function over form as a positive attribute to buildings reveals a more realistic future of man, that beauty in the modern world and future is seen in its ability to provide as much function as possible rather than focus more on artistic qualities directly.Overall, Henry Perowne in Ian McEwans Saturday is portrayed as a futuristic man. McEwan accomplishes this by juxtaposing Henry with a anti-war protest and gives his the attributes of an individual who has already seen what the war will bring, someone who is more analytical in their actions, rather than quick to violence. He also does this by giving him a positive view on the beauty of function, rather than beauty for beautys sake.

Medical Marijuana A not so new form of medical treatment...

Marijuana usage for the purpose of medical treatment has been a debated issue in many states and Countries around the world. The United Kingdom and Canada have both adopted laws that are directed at protecting patients and doctors from prosecution due to possession and usage of marijuana for medical purposes. Australia has passed laws, but has not put them into effect, and the United States has not made any allowances, leaving marijuana in the same category with other illegal drugs and allowing for prosecution if a person is found to be growing, possessing or using marijuana, regardless of the reasons. According to Dresser, there are currently fourteen states that have taken it upon themselves to enact laws that allow for the prescribing†¦show more content†¦They also report that in laboratory testing on animals and controlled testing on humans, that cannabinoids are often effective as analgesics and helpful in relieving post operative pain on the same level as codeine, as w ell as relieving nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite and can reduce muscle spasms and pain related to MS as well as â€Å"abnormal skeletal movements related to Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and Tourette’s syndrome† (690-691). While medical marijuana has its benefits, it is not without side effects. Practice Of Trade After The World War I Essay - 1982 Words

.1 Practice of trade before GATT The history of GATT discussions and the present WTO are the birth right of commitments that the countries have voluntarily agreed with each other. To appreciate the foundation of the present blueprint of import protection across WTO member countries in addition to products and industries within those countries, it is important to turn to the past. Western Europe after the World War-I was caught up with economic instability and disparity of the economic recovery following the World War-II was more evident in the context of international trade relations. Economic reconstruction after the World War-I was deficient in institutional machinery to make possible the reduction of trade barriers that has arisen during the war and had become well-established thereafter. The European countries had faced political weaknesses and it was reflected in trade policies which was evident with the proposal of â€Å"equality of trade conditions† in draft League of Nations was discarded in favour of a the provision for the â€Å"equitable treatment.† The World Economic Conference held in 1927 found it indispensible to call upon the governments to do away with maritime controls on trade, which incorporated, licensing requirements, import quotas and foreign exchange controls. Soccer In Radge (545 words) Essay Soccer In RadgeALENCIA, Spain (Reuters) Espanyol capped its centenarycelebrations by winning the SpanishCup with a 2-1 victory over AtleticoMadrid on Saturday. One of the cheekiest goals seen inSpain all season gave the Barcelonaclub an ideal start after just twominutes. Atletico goalkeeper Toni Jimenez who moved to the club from Espanyollast summer saved a shot by ToniVelamazan and was bouncing the ballin front of him, ready to boot it upfield. But then Raul Tamudo nipped in unseen, headed the ball awayfrom Jimenez and beat his former team mate in a sprint acrossthe face of the goal, turning the ball in from an narrow angle outon the left. Sergio Gonzalez hit Espanyols second goal five minutes fromtime to ensure the club won its first honor for 60 years Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink pulled one back for Atletico a minuteinto injury time, and Espanyol endured an anxious couple ofminutes as the clocked ticked away, but it was too little too late. Espanyol ecstasyFor Espanyol supporters, it brought a huge smile to their facesafter a decade of despair. They were relegated twice during the 1990s and even had tosell their ground the historic Sarria stadium in 1997 to solvea cash crisis. However Espanyols veteran defender Nando Munoz put theemotions of all those involved with the club into words. This might be the greatest day in the history of Espanyol. Thisis for all those fans and everyone else who can remember thebad times all those dire moments, Nando said. Nando had recovered enough breath to speak to Spanish toreporters because he had been given his marching orders 13minutes from time after picking up two yellow cards in quicksuccession while Espanyol fought to contain a second halfAtletico comeback. Atletico attackThe first half belonged to Espanyol, with Tamudo andVelamazan causing plenty of problems for the Atleticodefenders and Moises Arteaga slicing through the middle, butthe second period saw Atletico strive for an equalizer. Hasselbaink was a constant thre at, although Espanyoldefenders did a good job of soaking up the pressure, and hisclosest efforts came from edge-of-the-area free kicks. After Nando left the field, Espanyol looked briefly in trouble, butboth teams ended the match with 10 men after former Spanishinternational defender Santi Denia lost control completelyseven minutes from time. Denia scythed down Manuel Serrano from the rear and thenheadbutted Toni Velamazan. Sergios clincher came two minutes later. TearsHe controlled a long, speculative, ball forward with his headand then blasted the half-volley past the hapless Jimenez, wholeft the field inconsolable. Football just isnt fair, Jimenez wailed, with tears streamingdown his face. Jimenez was not the only Atletico player to leave the field withmoist eyes. The cup final defeat, their second in successive years afterlosing 3-0 to Valencia last year, brought an end to one of theworst seasons in club history. Atletico was relegated and will spend next season in theSpanish se cond division for the first time since 1934. A damaging government investigation into the club financesalso left the club badly demoralized on and off the field. The cup final is likely to be the last match that many players, including Hasselbaink, have in an Atletico jersey, with amassive exodus anticipated. Cloud Computind Solutions for System Analysis- MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about theCloud Computind Solutionsfor System Analysis and Design. Answer: Introduction Cloud computing is a type of the internet based computing which provides shared computer processing resources as well as data to the computers as well as other devices on the demand. The cloud computing is the new way to which the computing resource as well as the services could be delivered (Kaur Chana, 2014). Many researcher believe the use of the cloud computing solutions could help in the improvement of the health services, research and the change to the face to how the information technology is delivered in the healthcare. The use of the cloud computing in the commonwealth government Australia should be evaluated before it could be adopted. The issues such as slower as well as ineffective data management system have caused the need for implementation of the cloud-based solution in this organization. The cloud based solution will provided systematic data system, which will help in the management of the data and prevent issues related to breach of the data (Kuo, 2011). The common wealth organization was affected by the inefficiency particularly on their data management, which affected it especially with the increase in the number of patients, there was issue of the security threat where data was hacked in the healthcare system via methods such as spoofing, and the DDoS attack (Kuo, 2011). The use of the modern cloud based solution would enable them to overhaul the paper work based tasks and to help to serve the patients more efficiently (Kaur Chana, 2014). The purpose of this report is to highlight some practical references to the cloud based solution to the problem they are facing to enable them implement My Health Record system which is based on cloud computing. This research will discuss non-functional requirements for example critical system qualities, interface of the system, user interface requirements and the constraints of the system. The basis of the program is based on the FURPS+ in order to enable concepts for example usability, performance, secu rity, and reliability are handled. Moreover, the research would review merits and demerits of the cloud dependent solution and look at both predictive and Adaptive SDLC method on their pros and cons and which to adopt for this organization. The non-functional requirements of application The non-functional requirements, which the report will focus on, are quality attributes, external interface and the design implementation constraints. Quality Attributes Delivering on the service is not good enough for most organization particularly when the service could have real time aspect on it. The key to the qualities of attributes would find provider, which could control as well as manage a lot of solution when it comes to the technology being implemented (Padhy, Patra Satapathy, 2012). It could also include the service technology, or even the networking equipment. The more the provider could control as well as manage on the program the better quality attribute it would be. The program should possess the preferred combination features such as dependability or perhaps the overall performance. System Interface When it comes to cloud-computing solution, the system interface is usually the shared boundary that is across the various subcomponents for example how the computer exchanges on the data (Padhy, Patra, Satapathy, 2012). The exchange could take place between the program, and the peripheral devices. System Constraints The functional system for the implementation of the new system in the organization should specify on what the new system will perform (Vaquero, Rodero-Merino, Caceres Lindner, 2008). The system constraints shows how the system will operate and on the building of the system (Sultan, 2014). The system will be operated on a twenty-four hours basis since the cloud-based system operate that way. The user Interface Requirements The user interface of the system provides on the entire product that could be configured. The product could be selected with ease and be configured (Sultan, 2014). The users will be able to update their configuration (details) and resolve the entire current configuration. The interface would be user friendly to enable each users to operate without any challenges. Use to the FURPS+ Usability This is all about how the program would meet the requirements of the users and the patients by being intuitive and it can result to the overall user experience (Soman, 2011). The system, which Commonwealth Government is implementing, would be inspected in order to determine if it meets the usability and make sure there are no problems relating to UI design. The system should not have any hang up errors, or even delays like the previous data management system the organization was having. Reliability This is all about if the system would have the ability of handling an increase in load of data without affecting on the performance of the system (Soman, 2011). My health record system should be able to accommodate all the patient data and would not have any niche to perform. In order to ensure reliability is ensured the system would be hosted on the private cloud infrastructure that the Commonwealth government would have control over it (Soman, 2011). This system will be operational overtime and would not fail to perform all its functionality. The process of bebugging process would be undertaken through use of the well-known statistical technique of Monte Carlo in any random event to ensure the system does not have more than x bugs. Performance Performance is all about the responsiveness of the system in executing of tasks assigned within a given interval. The performance is measured through the latency that looks at the time taken in response to a given event. My health record system since it a cloud-based application would depend on the internet for delivering of the data. Security Security of the data is the most vital part of the Common wealth government organization. Previously they had been victim of data breach. It is important to protect the information of the patient. The software they are intending to implement has been installed programs for encrypting of sensitive information (Lhr, Sadeghi Winandy, 2010). Further, there is installation of password, which is based on the finger print verification, and it is checked every hour. This system has been designed with security concern in the picture in order to prevent any cyber-attack vulnerabilities. Reviewing of the Cloud Based Review of Strengths and Weaknesses of Cloud Based Solutions Strengths On the strength of the cloud based solution is that of cost reduction. The cloud computing is able to eliminate on various conventional costs for example the hardware, paperwork, electrical bills or perhaps the information staff costs (Rodrigues, de la Torre, Fernndez Lpez-Coronado, 2013). Secondly the advantage of scalability. One pays for the service or perhaps the resources they have used, and one should not worry on the issue of the hardware as well as software upgrading since they grow along the business. Another strength is that of collaboration and accessibility. The theme of the internet on the cloud computing enable mobility as well as ease of access. The workers could collaborate easily without the boundaries of distance. Weaknesses The weaknesses could be issues such as the risk of unavailability. The chances of the vendor resources shutting down could be possible. One has to wait for the service to come back since there is no alternative. Secondly could be the issue of data authenticity (Rodrigues, de la Torre, Fernndez Lpez-Coronado, 2013). As a result of the limitation of not being physically present at the time alongside your data, safeguarding on its authenticity as well as validity could be limited to an individual. Predictive SDLCApproach on Pros and Cons This predictive model is for examining the existing information and the trends to be able to understand the customers. Pros The methodology is easy to use and an individual can be able to manage the project since it rigid. The phases of undertaking the project are undertaken through the various intervals. Another advantage is that the requirement of the use of this technique can easily be understood. Cons The cons is if any adjustment of the scope would be done, it could kill the project. Further, the technique could not be appropriate especially where the requirement are at moderate to high risk. Adaptive approach Pros and Cons The use of this methodology it saves time since there is production of consistency especially on the interface design for the user. Another advantage it allows the early involvement of the customer during the project (Lhr, Sadeghi Winandy, 2010). Additionally, less time is taken especially in the both creation and production of the functional specifications. Cons The use of this methodology does not produce reusable codes as well as it lack a stopping point. Secondly, the use of this method the finished deliverable could vary from the original intention for the project. Recommendations The best approach to use for Commonwealth Government organization is the adaptive approach techniques. The use of this approach is easy to perform as well as the risk, which are involved in the project, could be reduced to realize the full potential for the project. The use of this approach allows the client to be involved early enough in the development of the application when the project commences. References Kaur, P. D., Chana, I. (2014). The Soul, God, Religion, & Evil Essays - Philosophy Of Religion

The Soul, God, Religion, & Evil The Soul, God, Religion, & Evil Being raised in a Catholic family, I have always been told that my body contains a soul. I have often wondered where my soul is and how it functions. Being asked by my friends questions about the soul, I could not answer because I never really knew myself, so I looked to the writings of the church. According the Catechism of the Catholic Church, written by Pope John Paul II, the soul is not just part of the body, it is the body. In Sacred Scripture the term soul often refers to the life or the entire person. But soul also refers to the innermost aspect of man, that which is of greatest value in him, that by which he is most especially in God's image: soul signifies the spiritual principle in man. The unity of soul and body is so profound that one has to consider the soul to be the form of the body: i.e., it is because of its spiritual soul that the body made of matter becomes a living, human body; spirit and matter, in man, are not two natures united, but rather their union forms a s ingle nature. The Church teaches that every spiritual soul is created immediately by God - it is not produced by the parents - and also that it is immortal: it does not perish when it separates from the body at death, and it will be united with the body at the final Resurrection. That is the belief of my church. Other religion hold different views, are they right? If what I believe is right, then the soul is there, not for Catholics, but for everyone, so that we all have a spiritual awareness and can become closer to God. But what if I am wrong? What if we really do not have soul? How then am I to live my life? What if there really is no God, and religion is just a security blanket for people so that they seem to have some meaning in their lives? How can one justify the existence of God if there is so much evil in the world? What about reincarnation? If we have a soul, then it is supposed to be reunited with the body on the final Resurrection, but then how do certain people have spe cial talents where as others do not? These questions are ones that my personal experiences and beliefs will try to answer. I do not believe that the Catholic Christian religion is the only true religion in this world. If I were to believe this, then I would not be the ideal, loving, open minded person that I am called to be by my beliefs, and by God. I believe that each religion is right for each person involved, depending on where they are located. God calls each person in different ways because all people are not the same, and live in different surroundings. Each culture has certain beliefs based on their cultural pasts, and physical environments. For example, Europe and the Americas are considered to be part of the Western World. The Western World is modern, destructive, fast paced, and highly independent. That is the way our society has developed, and the religions that we believe correspond to these factors. African religions are different then the European religions, just as Asian and Middle Eastern religions are different then African religions, because they do not have the same pasts. The way tha t people had lived, their ancestors, helped to develop their religious ideas. Each culture had to have believed in some higher power, and someone (Buddha, Jesus, Confucius, etc.) helped to lead their people into a system that corresponded with their lives, and contributed to bringing some sort of meaning to the society, fulfilling some void that was present. So in a sense, the religions that were created, were created by a certain type of people to fill something missing in their lives, caused by the type of society they were residing in. It was not that the religions created the people, it was that the people created the religions. In line with that idea, religions have also been

Toyota Recall Case Essays

Toyota Recall Case Essays Toyota Recall Case Essay Toyota Recall Case Essay Toyota was forced to recall millions of its vehicles in the US and Europe and reports of accelerator defects emerged. The Japanese automotive giant was criticised for putting profits ahead of safety, and an ill-coordinated communications response did not help matters. Toyota’s brand values- reliability, safety and quality- came under sustained scrutiny. Analysis: â€Å"Like most Japanese companies, corporate communications and overall corporate message development, was heavily centralized in Japan,† according to Kreab Gavin Anderson Japan managing partner Deborah Hayden and New York CSR director Mark Boutros. This caught Toyota’s Japan HQ, dominated by its engineer-led, consensual culture, flatfooted. â€Å"There was a lack of leadership from Japan, which meant countries had to pick their own strategy in the early days,† explains Porter Novelli corporate practice leader Neil Bayley. â€Å"This meant they appeared paralyzed, reacting in different ways across key markets. † â€Å"The findings that are emerging from lawsuits are showing that there does not appear to have been a fundamental product problem; at the end of the day Toyota faced a public relations problem,† adds Hayden. Handling a PR problem of this magnitude was not something that Toyota was equipped to do. â€Å"The media went chasing Toyota and the eventual press conference, where Mr Toyoda wore a surgical mask, didn’t do the company any favors,† says Bell Pottinger head of issues and crisis management Alex Woolfall. â€Å"Sadly, nor did his faltering English. † The press conference itself was held in Nagoya, further inflaming international media sentiment, and was conducted largely in Japanese.

Literature Survey on Implementation - Essay Example This volume intends to survey the means and insights in sending a wake-up call that moved the general observation and that goes beyond simple examination. On realization of a widening gap between the conception and implementation of policies, Mazmanian, Daniel, Paul (125) initiated a wave of critics in response to the noted political irresponsibility. In his book, Bardarch (55) imprints a deep message that sort to effect more congruence within the public policy processes to consequently ensure that the legislated actions and policies intentions were carried out in actual sense and in reality. They wrote their books based on the relevance basing their sentiments to the ongoing discussions and debates about the credibility of the government to challenge the true democratic reorganization (Mazmanian, Daniel, Paul, 124). The work is very relevant and extends a helping hand to assist in the much-needed debate concerning the administrative underpinning of the governance, which came at a time of the fall of the unresponsive, and unaccountable government had yet not found any lasting solution for public management. One cannot fail to note the compelling effect and clarity of vision they all bring to the issue. In their book, Pressman, Jeffrey, and Aaron (70) presents a picture the general society would not admire. The book is not optimistic at all; as the theme course along the concept of â€Å"declare it done and it will be done† method of central control that is mostly satisfied in just having a good policy or a great legislation without giving much regard to the means by which is will get executed. Leadership and Management Essay Example for Free

Leadership and Management Essay Education is a very important institution due to the role it plays in transmitting social skills and knowledge required of any member of the society (Hofman, Gray Daly, 2004). It is worth noting that the levels of development of a countrys education systems bears close correlation to the economic and social conditions that the said country will afford. It is therefore upon members of the society and the education system to ensure that members of the society achieve as much as possible from this system. High attainment in eduction is far much beneficial than low level education in the modern society due to the high level of educational attainment. A doctorate degree is currently what an undergraduate degree was in the 1990s (Hofman, Gray Daly, 2004). The level of educational attainment requires an individual to posses at least a masters degree to stand out among others. The need to stand above others and gain some advantage over them in the competitive job market is the main reason for my pursuance of a doctoral degree. In choosing educational leadership and management of higher institutions in Singapore the key consideration was my vocation. I have personally worked in the educational field in different capacity. Having served as an assistant head of international programs at Crestar institute, human resource management with a Christian association, lectured English at Kaplan city campus and being a full time consultant trainer at NTUC, my life has centred around management and higher institution of learning. Understanding the nature of higher education leadership and management in Singapore is therefore relevant to my career. Relevance of USQ Doctorate studies is about mastery and application of principles and theories studied in class. A doctorate graduate should be able to analyse and relate issues related to their area of specialisation by giving varied dimension. Doctorate graduates are expected to be above other levels not just in their approach to thinking but they must also display high levels of norms and values expected of the society (Mok, 2006). Mastery of principles that are relevant to the needs of the society, and the development of norms and values that are expected of the society are just but a few of the benefits expected of a USQ professional doctorate; it is thus clear that the program not only makes better specialists but also better members of the society by integrating the values of determination, team spirit and courage into the students. The role played by the education system just like any other social systems cannot be done by any other system. Propagation of social norms and development of skills that are relevant to the needs of the society are some of the objectives of the education system. Though the education systems is one of the oldest institution, the development of the higher educations sector in Singapore is a recent event. Singapores education system though quite organised as compared to its neighbours is faced with a number of challenges (Lee Fredriksen, 2008). Most challenges in the education system can be traced to the management and leadership of the education system. Despite the education system being a social systems it still falls prey to the effects of partisan politic. The involvement of the central government on educational matter cannot be avoided since the education system is under the governments care, however, the education system should be shielded from the negative effects of poor politics. Corruption lack of professional knowledge and nepotisms are some of the issue that affect the education systems at the low level. Researching on education management and leadership in higher education sector not only develops my research skills but also ensure awareness on issues that affect management and leadership of higher education sector and is therefore relevant to efficient delivery in future. Personal Capabilities Doctorate studies require good academic background and interest in the area of study. Determination defines me; level of education attainment and the nature of jobs that I have been involved in give me the experience and skills required to undertake a doctorate course. I am well versed in the management of the education system and problems faced by low level personnel like tutors and professors. My position places me in a situation where I can look at the issues from both the management and implementation level which is a capability that few have. My academic qualification is beyond question for I am a holder of a masters degree in education. I therefore possess the skills and qualification required of doctorate degree and there is no cause for worry on my abilities. Literature Review The education system thought critical to the development of the society is no stranger to controversy. Implementation of the education system goals has especially been under fire with some coming up with the view that the education system, just like any other social system is responsible for social reproduction (Kassem, Mufti Robinson, 2006). The education systems is seen by such critics as a tool used by those in power to ensure they maintain their position while disregarding the needs of the less empowered. It is quite true that commercialisation of education has led to increase in levels of educational attainment. Increase in levels of educational attainment is characterised by increase in the cost of acquiring higher education. The costs of education at a level that is relevant to the development of technical skills required by the job market is high and borders exploitation (Kassem, Mufti Robinson, 2006). Projection shows that the cost of education is likely to go up with increase in demand for education. This is blamed on commercialisation of education which has made it business like and therefore probe to the market forces of supply and demand the only differences being that the demand is always on a high. On the other hand, the commercialisation of education and strategies developed by the government and other stakeholders who are blamed for the problems facing education by social reproduction theorists is cited as the first step towards the development of the high education sector (Mok, 2006). Take China as an example, the reforms which included allowing privatisation of the higher education sector and formulation and implementation of cost sharing mechanism are cited as the key driving factors to the levels of development achieved (Mok, 2006).

Search of Identity in Society

Identity can be generally defined as the personal characteristics and traits which differentiate each individual from the other, however in â€Å"The myth of the Latin woman: I just met a girl named Maria† by Cofer, Judith Ortiz and â€Å"The joy of reading and writing: superman and me† by Alexei Sherman, both authors demonstrate the theme identity in a different manner. Judith Cofer portrays how the society often stereotype individuals into groups without a doubt, in this particular essay, the offensive stereotype of Latino women without any particular reason but merely due to their identity.Alexei Sherman in â€Å"The joy of reading and writing: superman and me† also describes how society can have an impact on one’s identity; however Alexei was determined to build himself and challenge the society despite of its expectations. Similarities in this particular comparison overcome the differences; the similarities which are clearly seen between these two sho rt stories are how the society belittles people and stereotype them simply due to their identity. Another common theme between both stories is multiculturalism and how it’s faced. The difference however is how each author dealt with this stereotyping and how they defined their own identity despite of how people interrupted it for them. Expectations can alter the way a person feels about living their life the way they desire. Society determines and expects a role that every individual must perform according to who they are such as: age, gender, race, ethnic etc. In the essay the â€Å"The joy of reading and writing: superman and me†, the author talks about his life as an Indian boy and how writing and reading shaped his life to what it is today.Sherman talks about how as an Indian boy living in a reservation in the United States, Indians were expected to fail and be uneducated; but because he was â€Å"smart, arrogant and lucky† he broke the mold and became a crea tive writer. In Cofer’s case there were no mold’s to be broken but merely society’s perception about Latinas. She collects all the misconceptions of Latin women, comparing them with her personal experiences Our perception of anything can change and the way we view our selves can sometimes be altered by the events that happen in our life, our self-image and self-esteem can be also altered by these events too.Cofer, in her autobiographical short story describes how she feels like an object of sexual desire and a person of lower class because of her Puerto Rican ethnicity. She starts the essay by reliving an incident which happened to her with a drunken man who re-enacted â€Å"Maria† from West Side Story even though she was aggravated, she tried to keep her cool when everyone around her was laughing and applauding. The author shows how the society degrades her because she is simply Latina regardless of the fact that is she an educated women seeking knowledg e from Oxford university.Later she states, â€Å"I do not wear my diplomas around my neck†- By this Cofer implies that there are many other women exactly like her, Latin women who do have the advantage of an education, however other individuals within societies racial misconceptions lead them to believe that every Latin woman is either a â€Å"housemaid† or a â€Å"counter girl†- which is obviously not the case. Cofer continues to subjectively analyses and defends the negative stereotypes that Latin women encounter.Since something can be natural in a determined culture and offensive in another, it is easy to find a variety of behaves that are misunderstood. This misunderstood is what promotes the existence of prejudice. She collects all the misconceptions of Latin women, comparing them with her personal experiences. Eventually the author tries to deliver a message, a â€Å"universal truth†, is to try to replace the old pervasive stereotypes, individuals s hould not be judged entirely due to their place of origin, â€Å"skin color, accent or cloths† but should be seen for who they truly are.Cofer emphasizes that â€Å"we cannot change this (the myth of Latina as whore, domestic or criminal) by legislating the way people look at us the transformation, as I see it, has to occur at a much more individual level†. Again this is something which is also seen in Sherman’s essay and it’s evident from his writing. Sherman says he saw the world in paragraphs, this is a metaphoric term he created.

Lockes Explanation of Creation, Value and Protection of...

Lockes Explanation of Creation, Value and Protection of Property ‘The great and chief end... of Mens uniting into Commonwealths, and putting themselves under Government, is the preservation of their property’ (Second treatise, para.124). How and why does Locke explain the creation, value and protection of property? Locke says that the state has a responsibility to preserve people’s private property. He (1688) says â€Å"The great and chief end, therefore, of men’s uniting into common-wealths, and putting themselves under†¦show more content†¦In order for Locke to come up with his opinions of the role of state in regarding property he assumed a number of things including people have a right to their own preservation, the way to acquire property is through labor in the land, and that land is better acquired than lying not toiled in the common. Locke (1688) says, â€Å"that men, being once born, have a right to their preservation† (p. 250). As soon as a person is born he automatically has the right to try to preserve himself by any means possible, as long as he does not infringe on someone else’s property. And that god gave humans the world and everything in it including the fruit it produces, and the animals it feeds. People have a right to all of it to pr eserve themselves. He (1688) then says that in order to preserve ourselves we need â€Å"a means to appropriate them some way or another†( p. 251), and the way to do it is through labor. He (1688) says that â€Å"every man has a property in his own person† (p. 251), and therefore the work of his hand belongs to him as well. So by adding labor to property we add something of our own to it the â€Å"labour put a distinction between them and common† (Locke, 1688 p. 251). By causing a change in the land with our property we take it out of â€Å"the hands of nature† (Locke, 1688 p. 252) and make it our own.
